The myth of the Metrosexual Jesus

Editorial

In the spirit of full disclosure, I’m one of those Latin Mass-only renegades that Father Too-hip and Sister Mary Polyester warned you about.

With that said, I must ask: When did Jesus become such a wimp?

Allow me to go a bit further, when did Christianity become so wimpy? When did The Savior become the world’s first great social worker?

Icela Peralta Donald, sister of fallen Marine Sgt. Rafael Peralta, still fights for MoH for her hero brother.

The All-American mother takes a brave stand against racism…

The family of a fallen Marine hero is accusing a reporter for The Washington Post of attempting to play the Latino race card by trying to trick the family into stating that the combat hero’s Mexican heritage was a factor in him being denied the Medal of Honor, as reported by The Washington Times on Feb. 27, 2014.

Rosa Peralta, mother of the recipient of the Navy Cross Sgt. Rafael Peralta, as well as her youngest son L/Cpl Ricardo Peralta, USMC, are hammering Washington Post reporter Ernesto Londono for repeatedly attempting to get family members to accuse the military hierarchy of denying the Medal of Honor to the Marine Corps martyr because of his Latino lineage.

Hagel again denies combat killed hero Medal of Honor: Not enough ‘proof’

“You should be proud of being an American…”

Barack Obama’s Secretary of Defense hasn’t exactly had a very good past few day. Most recently proposing the Armed Forces be cut back to pre-WWII troops strengths, as well as earlier drawing the anger of many active duty and former Marines for shooting down any further discussion of awarding the Medal of Honor to a Marine killed in Iraq who many of his comrades claim he saved their lives, as reported by Fox News on Feb. 24, 2014, both the Jacksonville (NC) Daily News and The Daily Mail (London, UK) on Feb. 23, 2014, and The Washington Post on Feb. 21, 2014.

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that he’s chosen not to re-open the case of upgrading Sgt. Rafael Peralta’s Navy Cross (second highest award for personal valor in combat) to the Medal of Honor after “the totality of the evidence does not meet the ‘proof beyond a reasonable doubt’ Medal of Honor award standard.”

CNN dumps Piers Morgan: Audience ‘tired of me’

To his critics it may seem as the longest three years in media history, but it looks as if Piers Morgan’s prime time gig at CNN has finally ended, as reported by both The New York Times and Great Britain’s internet news portal ITV.com on Feb. 23, 2014.

Citing low ratings and his numerous anti-gun rants as mitigating factors, the Cable News Network has opted to cancel the prime time show “Piers Morgan Tonight” possibly as soon as this March.

Obama and Putin: 1945 Yalta redux

Editorial

There’s an old political adage that’s been floating around Eastern Europe for centuries, “Without the Ukraine, Russia is just another country. With the Ukraine, Russia has become an empire.

There’s also the sage wisdom of Spanish-American philosopher George Santayana who noted: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Ukraine collapses: Western region declares independence, president flees Kiev

In what seems slow to hit American news rooms, the Ukraine is falling apart before the eyes of the world as the westernmost province has declared independence, while easternmost provinces are setting up a de facto civil authority separate from the central government, reported by both The Independent (of Dublin, Ireland) and The Globe and Mail (of Toronto, Canada) on Feb. 22, 2014, and London’s The Guardian on Feb. 20, 2014.

Ukrainian police leave posts, join protesters

In another pivotal moment as the Ukraine speeds towards civil war, police officers have walked off their posts to join the protesters, as reported by NBC News on Feb. 21, 2014.

With the western part of the country known as the heartland of Ukrainian nationalism, at least 40 police officers from the city of Lviv were joined by former soldiers as they trekked the 330 miles from their home city to the nation’s capital of Kiev, located roughly in the center of the country.

With estimates of the death toll topping 100, the chief of police of the Lviv Oblast (translation: “province“) Col. Vasyl Krykovskiy led his men to Kiev to stand with the protesters against the pro-Russian president Viktor F. Yanukovych, who is seen by many as wanting to bring the nation back into the Russian sphere of influence.

With such a high ranking officer leading the cohort to Kiev, it’s unsure if they were the acts of renegades or if the Oblast leadership authorized their actions.

As the officers arrived in Kiev and joined the ranks of the protesters, the crowd applauded and cheered the seasoned law enforcement officials to their ranks.

Colonel Krykovskiy made of point of stating:

We wear this uniform, and in this uniform I made a vow to be a servant of the Ukrainian people. I just have to be here and protect these people.

Lviv Police Capt. Vladimir Chesak made note of his personal resolve to stand with his fellow Ukrainians:

We will be here until the moment everything ends and the Ukrainian people peacefully go home and no one else is killed.

upperhand

Russian Foreign Ministry echoes Obama’s warning to Kiev protesters

Putin gets the upper hand … again.

With the fires still burning at the barricades in Kiev, the Russian Foreign Minister issued a stern warning to the Ukrainian protesters that closely resembles what Barack Obama recently stated in Mexico, as reported by The Daily Star (of Beirut, Lebanon) on Feb. 21, 2014, and The Washington Post on Feb. 19, 2013.

While in a joint press conference with Mexican President Enrique Pena-Nieto in the Mexico City suburb of Toluca. the American Chief Executive gave his thoughts on the unrest in the Ukraine:

We’ve also said we expect peaceful protesters to remain peaceful and we’ll be monitoring very closely the situation.

Literally in the same breath, Obama failed to specify who he meant by “people” if he was referring to either government troops or the protesters themselves, as well as the definition of “over the line”:

Recognizing that with our European partners and the international community there will be consequences if people step over the line.

The Community Organizer and the KGB Lieutenant Colonel.
The Community Organizer and the KGB Lieutenant Colonel.

Enter the Russians …

Within 48 hours, the office of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov released a statement that in the course of his emergency meeting with the European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, the protesters are the ones to blame for the unrest:

[The Minister] has decisively denounced the activities of radicals who bear the full responsibility for the violence and human casualties and urged the EU and its member-states to clearly express rejection of these activities.

Pregnant Muslim teen sexually attacked: Faces execution on adultery charges

To the vast majority of Westerners, Islam’s sharia law seems at a minimum to be a legalistic curiosity. At the other end of the spectrum, mind boggling barbaric. Case in point would be the rather disturbing reports coming out of the Islamic Republic of The Sudan, as published on Feb. 19, 2014, by both the pan-African daily online newspaper The Mail & Guardian (of Cape Town, South Africa), and the London-based The Daily Mail.

The theology of evolution: The ultimate anti-science

WARNING! Harsh language alert! If you’re easily offended by course language, this may not be the page for you.

I’ll just come right out and say it — no matter how often liberal atheists puff out their collective chests and sneer at us lowly “anti-science” mouth-breathing conservatives, the truth of the matter is that Believers are more science-minded than given credit for … and even though they hate to admit it, atheists most certainly believe in a Supreme Being.

Killer drought: California’s man-made disaster to save a bait-fish from extiction

Is ‘Pie à la Mode’ Arabic for ‘God Loves Ice Cream’?

It must be exhausting to be this angry all the time …

Allahu Akbar, Insha’Allah, Pie à la Mode — yes, Muslims invoke their twisted, blood-soaked version of God at almost every turn.

Speaking of Muslims, a blood thirsty deity and ice cream, have you heard of the utterly absurd reason excuse SJS (Sudden Jihad Syndrome) reared its wild-eyed head in Great Britain a few years ago?
