Without even realizing it, presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s swipe at fellow contender Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) may have unwittingly given all the GOP candidates another topic to use against their Democratic competition. As reported by Jeremy Pelzer of the Cleveland Plain Dealer updated on Oct. 30, 2015, The Donald’s assertion that the economic upturn in the Buckeye State has nothing to do with Kasich’s abilities, but instead just dumb luck due to geologists recently discovering shale oil and natural gas may not be 100 percent true. Bringing the most applause of the evening, presidential hopeful Senator Ted Cruz fired back at CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla, co-anchor of “Squawk on the Street” and “Squawk Alley” for the entire trio of moderators attempting to turn the Republican Presidential Debate into a proverbial “cage match”. As reported by Brett LoGiurato and Colin Campbell of the new media Business Insider on Oct. 28, 2015, the Lone Star senator none too subtlety lowered the boom on Quintanilla as he went off script during the live television broadcast.
With All Hallows’ Eve just around the corner, both parents and police everywhere will be keeping an extra sharp eye out for the safety and protection of the wee ones. And while both the parents and the cops understand that the well being of the costumed kiddies is the top priority, law enforcement now has an additional concern that pertains to them and them alone: Assassination. While many in the federal government normally decry any formal recognition of any religious personage for fear of giving an air of official acceptance, the founder of Islam apparently gets a pass. With Islamic jihadists groups in the Eastern Hemisphere ranging from the Philippines to the Western Sahara, the same jihadists have done everything from selling crude oil on the black market to plundering the homes of those unlucky enough to be living in a region occupied by them. And with much of the globe peppered with that many terrorist organizations, the growing cost of beheading innocent victims, displacing millions of people and the rising price of explosive vests mean the implementation of a global caliphate can run into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
As it turns out, al-Qaeda affiliates literally thousands of miles apart are both raising money in like fashion. With a history of video recording slitting the throats of captives and also burning prisoners alive, now the jihadists have taken to slaughtering a number of endangered species, then selling body parts on the Asian and Middle Eastern black markets, as reported by Lucie Aubourg of the new media VICE News portal on Oct. 20, 2015.
In the Northwestern African nation of Mali, various Islamist terrorist groups such as the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad; Ansar Dine; the Movement for Unity and Jihad; and the one group most recognized by Westerners, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb have all taken to killing the endangered desert elephant just for their ivory. In a May 21, 2014 joint report issued by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and international police force Interpol entitled “Illegal trade in wildlife: the environmental, social and and economic consequences for sustainable development” an estimated 90 percent of elephants killed in Africa each year (numbering 20,000-25,000). Using their best diplomatic-speak, the UN and Interpol have stated the rare beasts have been butchered by “non-state armed groups, in or near conflict zones.”
VICE’s Aubourg cited, MINUSMA — the UN’s peacekeeping mission in Mali — has released on their official website (thus far, only in French) that 57 elephants were killed in the Islamic jihadist-thick north of Mali during the first half of this year. The slaughtered pachyderms represent fully 20 percent of the poverty stricken nation’s remaining elephant population.
As it turns out, not only have the jihadists taken to killing the elephants, but have also murdered one of the Park Rangers tasked with their protection. Since the inception of the MINUSMA mission in April 2013, “42 peacekeepers have been killed by hostile acts — including 10 so far this year — and 166 wounded.”
Not only in North Africa, but jihadists have been killing endangered animals “in the northern Indian region of Assam, which lies on the border with Bangladesh. Separatist rebels and jihadist militants from al Qaeda-linked outfits like Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami and Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh are among the groups poaching tigers, elephants and rhinoceroses in the region.”
With very little ink spilled in European or North American news rooms, hard right leaning European political parties are making election gains thought impossible just a few short years ago. As reported by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on Oct. 19, 2015, two right-wing parties in historically neutral Switzerland have become a forced to be reckoned with in the Alpine nation. Taking things a step further, reporter Mike Bird of the new media Business Insider notes also on Oct. 19, 2015, that from the Balkans to Scandinavia, nationalist right-leaning political parties are flexing their considerable muscle.
With Europe currently experiencing a literal flood of migrants mainly from North Africa and the Middle East numbering in the hundreds of thousands if not millions, the pro-nativists are seeing election gains that have more than a few leftists sweating proverbial bullets. Case in point would be the Swiss People’s Party (Schweizerische Volkspartei, SVP) and the Free Democratic Party (Freisinnig-Demokratische Partei, FDP), who have taken first and third place, respectively, in the Swiss National Council, the lower house of the nation’s legislative branch.
In what the Swiss media has tagged “Rechtsrutsch” – a slide to the right – the SVP and the FDP are forming a coalition with a handful of other right-leaning parties to take control of the lower house. In the meantime, all parties left, right and center are holding their collective breaths as a number of Swiss cantons must complete a second round of voting to see who will win control of the Council of States (upper house).
While it has been noted that Spain’s and Germany’s right-wing populist parties parties aren’t as politically powerful as their Swiss brethren, the Front National in France, Golden Dawn in Greece and Britain’s UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party) have already established themselves political powerhouses for at least the past few years. But beyond those parties already established, the rise of the right though out the continent is seen as a direct response to the mainly Arab-Muslim influx.
The Business Insider’s Bird has addressed the rise of nationalists in a number of European countries:
- “In Austria, there’s been quiet momentum behind the far-right Freedom Party too. In late September, the party nudged the mainstream centre-left party out of second place in a state elections in Upper Austria. In 2010, one of the party’s slogans was ‘mehr mut für unser Wiener blut,’ or ‘more courage for our Viennese blood.'”
- “In the Netherlands, Geert Wilders’ PVV is 18 points ahead of the governing VVD in the latest polls.”
- “Marine Le Pen’s National Front leads in most polls in France.”
- “In Italy, Matteo Salvini’s Northern League is riding high.”
As Bird also cited, Salvini, Le Pen, Wilders and Christian-Stache (the leader of the Austrian Freedom Party) all collaborated on an editorial penned for the Wall Street Journal on Oct. 15, 2015. Here’s but a snippet:
The situation is completely out of control. Too many fortune seekers, too much illiteracy. Some of the migrants are refugees, but the majority come for economic reasons. Our European economies and social-protection systems cannot cope with this. The media prefer to focus on families and children, but their images cannot conceal that the asylum seekers flocking to Europe are predominantly young men. Many are unskilled …
The European Union has slowly been eroding Europe’s nation-states by gradually dismantling their sovereignty. It has robbed our countries of the right to conduct our own national asylum policies

Chess is best known as a cerebral game with enough time allotted before a well thought through move is actually made. But as 75-year-old James Vernon of Morton, Illinois has shown the world, sometimes cerebral well thought through actions need to be put aside in favor of swift and decisive brute force.
As reported by Fox News on Oct. 17, 2015, and also by reporter Michael Smothers of the Pekin Daily Times on Oct. 15, 2015, the ex-soldier and retired information technologist at Caterpillar Inc. is cited as single-handedly saving upwards of 16 children and a yet to be released number of mothers. As reported, 19-year-old Dustin Brown admitted to fully intending to “kill everyone”. That is until James Vernon intervened.
It was at the quintessentially Midwestern small town of Morton, Illinois that Vernon was volunteering his time with a group of home schooled students attending a meeting of their chess club. Gathering in the conference room of the town’s public library, Vernon was looking forward to coaching the 16 children – ranging in age from 7 to 13 – in one of his favorite past-times, until Brown, armed with two edged weapons that Vernon described as “hunting types” with “fixed blades about 5 inches” long burst into the room.
At approximately mid-afternoon on Oct. 15, it was then that Brown, who is currently out on bond for 22 counts of child pornography, entered the library. Seeing a mass of women and children in the conference room with a singular elderly male present, he considered the group an easy target.
Vernon related regarding Brown, “He actually ran into the room yelling, ‘I’m going to kill some people!’” With both handles of the knives taped down for a better grip, Vernon’s Army training from almost five decades ago simply kicked in.
“I tried to talk to him. I tried to settle him down,” Vernon stated. “I didn’t, but I did deflect his attention” from the kids “and calmed him a bit. I asked him if he was from Morton, did he go to high school. I asked what his problem was. He said his life sucks. That’s a quote.”
As Vernon spoke, he slowly moved closer to Brown. “He backed away when I’d get closer.” With a few steps, Vernon bravely put himself between Brown and the conference room door, the only means of escape for the children and the handful of mothers. “I gave them the cue to get the heck out of there, and, boy, they did that! Quick, like rabbits,” Vernon said.
“There were no more potential victims in the room. He focused on me. There was no more talking,” but Vernon’s sharp eye and even sharper mind quickly assessed Brown’s next move and probable attack. “I knew he was right-handed. He was whittling on his left arm” with the one in that hand, “making small cuts. He was trying to scare me, and he did.” But if Brown attacked, “I knew which hand it was coming from.”
Brown slashed at Vernon from the right, who blocked the blade with his left hand. “I should have hit his wrist. That’s how you’re trained, but it’s been half a century,” he said as he interjected some self-depreciating humor.
“I grabbed him and threw … Somehow he wound up on a table” with the attacker’s knife in his left hand pinned under his body, Vernon said. “I hit him on the (right) collarbone with my closed hand” until Brown couldn’t take the severe beating any longer, finally dropped the knife.
Vernon, “bleeding pretty good,” kept the wannabe killer of children held down until a library employee arrived to remove the knives and helped keep Brown pinned down until police officers and paramedics arrived. The hero suffered two arteries and a tendon slashed in his left hand.
Brown was ordered held on $800,000 bond pending a Nov. 5 court appearance on charges of attempted murder, armed violence, aggravated battery to a person over age 60 and burglary for entering the library with intent to commit a crime.
According to an affidavit, Brown told police he’d been planning for two weeks to kill people and then himself. The affidavit also admitted to the police, “I failed my mission to kill everyone.”
In a nation where it’s increasingly common for any given individual who openly states a belief in The Almighty to be greeted with eye rolls or sniggers, the man who was just named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the National League Divisional Series (NLDS) feels quite comfortable in proclaiming such. With the acceptance or rejection of the homosexual lifestyle still a hot button political issue, what may raise eyebrows of the secular-leaning is that the same MVP took heat recently when his personal opinion didn’t jive with what is considered politically correct.
As reported by Trent Baker of the new media Breitbart.com site, and also by Justin Sarachick of the BreatheCast.com news portal (Christian Media Corporation), both on Oct. 16, 2015, New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy matter-of-factly gave credit to God for bolstering his mental outlook, which in turn, was instrumental in his MVP caliber level of play. When the Mets took to the infield celebrating their 5th game victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, Murphy was asked by an on-field MLB reporter Sam Ryan how he had managed such stellar play during the NLDS, he plainly stated, “That was all Jesus.”
Prior to his first Major League at bat in 2008, Murphy admitted he was so nervous he had to keep drinking Pepto Bismol to keep from throwing up. When asked about dealing with nerves during the NLDS, he said, “That’s the Holy Spirit…the only thing keeping me calm.” When in the visitor’s club house, Murphy found himself on-camera being interviewed by the hometown SportsNet New York network. With Murphy batting a blistering .333, slapping three homers and five RBIs which was instrumental in him being named series MVP, he was asked, “Why have you been able to so elevate your game?” to which Murphy replied, “I don’t know. Sometimes the blessings come, Jesus is good…”
Yet Murphy’s traditional Christian beliefs haven’t been without controversy. As reported by Mike Vorkunov of NJ.com on March 3, 2015, when MLB’s “inclusion ambassador” visited the Mets Spring Training facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla. prior the this year’s season, Billy Bean’s mission was to see how accepting the team would be to an openly homosexual player.
As Vorkunov reported, “Murphy, a devout Christian, said he would embrace Bean despite a divergence in their beliefs. ‘I disagree with his lifestyle,’ Murphy said. ‘I do disagree with the fact that Billy is a homosexual. That doesn’t mean I can’t still invest in him and get to know him. I don’t think the fact that someone is a homosexual should completely shut the door on investing in them in a relational aspect. Getting to know him. That, I would say, you can still accept them but I do disagree with the lifestyle, 100 percent.'”
It was then that Murphy took a beating in the press. Joe Giglio, also of NJ.com, penned the following day that Murphy’s personal opinion “came across as ignorant and a step backwards for the sport.”
In an interview with Tony Rossi of Patheos.com, the reporter detailed the big leaguer’s conversion story. “With a .320 batting average at the start of August, 2011 was shaping up to be Murphy’s best season to date. Then it happened. Again. A knee injury ended his season early for the second time in two years. At first, Murphy understandably felt depressed about his bad luck. Then, God stepped in. Though Murphy was raised a Christian family, he did admit his belief was nominal.”
As Rossi penned, “The injury changed his perspective. ‘There were moments that led to me surrendering to the Lord. After that, I don’t want to say everything was easy because it isn’t always easy and prosperous. But there was a peace and joy I never experienced before…The Lord had knocked me on my back a number of times, and I had not answered. This time I finally decided to submit and give everything to Him.’”
While breaking news travels literally at the speed of light, the hours-old announcement by Barack Obama that American combat troops are not only going to remain in Afghanistan, but staying in-country even after he leaves the White House, is arguably considered by many as old news. Despite the Commander-in-Chief’s announcement widely reported by the legacy media, what’s not being mentioned is that Team Obama promised on live television that American troops would be out of the Central Asian nation as of 2014. Love, hate or indifferent to George W. Bush, many agree that during his administration there were clear lines of delineation of who basically was on our side and who was against us in the Middle East. Love, hate or indifferent to Barack H. Obama, many agree that knowing who in the Middle East has our back, and who wants to stab us in the back aren’t quite as clear cut.
When promising Iraq was sovereign, stable, and self-reliant, Obama ordered the last of the American combat troops out in 2011. But the situation is so convoluted now, even Western media outlets can’t seem to agree who is for us or against us. Case in point: Reporter Tom Batchelor of Great Britain’s the Daily Express newspaper noted on Oct. 14, 2015, that the ISIS terrorist organization is calling on a global jihad specifically aimed at Russian and American targets across the globe.
However, just the day prior, reporter Mary Chastain of the new media Breitbart.com news organization reports that ISIS has indeed called for an Islamic jihad against the two Cold War adversaries. Yet Chastain also noted that the al-Nusra Front terrorists and a number of Saudi Arabian clerics are also saddling-up with ISIS in calling for violence against the United States and Russia.
As cited by Batchelor, ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani left little to the imagination when he said, “‘Islamic youth everywhere, ignite jihad against the Russians and the Americans in their crusaders’ war against Muslims.” With the al-Nusra Front pledging their military and doctrinal allegiance to the Usama Bin Laden founded al-Qaeda terrorists, Breitbart.com’s Chastain notes their leader Abu Mohammad al-Jolani fell in line with ISIS. As quoted, “If the Russian army kills the people of Syria, then kill their people. And if they kill our soldiers, then kill their soldiers. An eye for an eye.”
Far from done, al-Jolani as then vowed to pay “three million euros ($3.4 million) for anyone who can kill Bashar al-Assad and end his story.” He also promised to compensate anyone who killed a member of the Assad family. Ostensibly, the bounty on any member of the Assad family also includes any of his three young children.
Even further confusing the situation, Chastain also cites that a number of Sunni clerics in Saudi Arabia are calling for a Sunni jihad against the Russians. With al-Qaeda overwhelmingly Sunni, and ISIS equally Shiite, both groups seek the destruction of Russia, Israel and the United States.
But the regional patrons of ISIS and al-Qaeda are funded, supported, and armed by the same Russians and Americans that ISIS and al-Qaeda despise. Many have speculated that a sizable amount of weaponry from the Saudi inventory has made its way to their brother Sunnis in al-Qaeda. There has also been questions if Iran is sincere in their open declaration to fight against their fellow Shiites in ISIS.
Citing numerous sources, as previously covered by Examiner.com, Obama sent during early 2014 more Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) anti-tank missiles in one shipment to Saudi Arabia than the entire inventory of the US Marine Corps. Also cited in the same report was that the Obama Administration shipped TOWs to one of the supposedly moderate Syrian militias who in fact are allied with the al-Nusra Front, who have often been characterized as the al-Qaeda branch in Syria.
The Washington Post reported earlier this year that between October 2010 and October 2014 alone, the United States sold the Sunni Saudi Arabians more than $90 billion worth of some of the most sophisticated weapons on the planet. For their part, the Russians have been quite open regarding giving billions of dollars worth of comparably sophisticated weapons to their Shiite-dominated Iranian allies.
When Barack Obama coined the phrase “shovel ready,” this probably isn’t exactly what he had in mind. As reported by Blake Neff of the Daily Caller news portal, and also by Hannah Hess of the everything politics website Roll Call, both on Oct. 13, 2015, a Democrat staffer was picked up by police for attacking his gay lover with a shovel, only to be stopped by his wife before he inflicted further damage on the anonymous other lover. Continue reading Shovel ready; Dem staffer arrested for attacking gay lover with knife, shovel
Russian smart bombs, wayward Russian cruise missiles, and ultimately Russian troops aren’t the only things sweeping the Middle East. As reported by Ivan Plis of the Daily Caller news portal on Oct. 12, 2015, the folk hero image of Russian President Vladimir Putin may be old hat back in Mother Russia, but the cult of Vladimir is sweeping across the Middle East faster than the invading Mohammedan armies of old.
First came the gunning down of unarmed civilians. Then the videotaped purposefully slow beheadings of Western captives. Just when no one thought the ISIS Islamic jihadists couldn’t sink to any lower depths of depravity, they burned to death a caged Jordanian pilot for all the world to see.
While many thought the terrorists couldn’t be any more barbaric than they already have, they proved the world wrong. As reported by Stoyan Zaimov of the Washington, DC-based Christian Post on Oct. 9, 2015, a captive Yazidi mother was separated from her two children, aged 3 and 5. But it doesn’t end there.
According to Vian Dakhil, one of the two Yazidi members of the Iraqi parliament, after two days of being starved, the woman was finally given a portion of rice and meat. Only after completing her meager meal was the mother told by her ISIS captors that the meat was actually the flesh of her youngest child.
Reportedly, another Yazidi mother was forced to witness her own 9-year-old daughter being raped to death by ISIS members. The parliamentarian also added that as many as 2,200 Yazidi women and girls have been kidnapped by ISIS only to find themselves on the auction block as sex slaves. Dakhil also stated there are at least 420,000 Yazidis are living in refugee camps, “which includes thousands of orphans who have no home.”
With the Yazidi religion being an ancient mixture of tribal folk beliefs, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, the Yazidis share their brutal persecution with Iraq’s also ancient Christian minority. While both the Yazidis and Christians have been sheltered and protected by the Kurdish Peshmerga Militia, leaders such as Dakhil have roundly condemned Barack Obama for seemingly making a concerted effort to keep aid from reaching them.
Fox News reported on July 2, 2015, that numerous Arab nations have complained that plans to convince the Obama Administration to directly arm the Kurds have fallen on deaf ears. Speaking on grounds of anonymity, a senior Arab official stated, “If the Americans and the West are not prepared to do anything serious about defeating ISIL, then we will have to find new ways of dealing with the threat. With ISIL making ground all the time we simply cannot afford to wait for Washington to wake up to the enormity of the threat we face.”
As CNN reported on Oct. 6, 2015, hundreds of captive girls have committed suicide rather than face a life of sexual slavery at the hands of ISIS. A Yazidi herself and an ex-member of the Iraqi parliament Ameena Saeed Hasan stated, “I have some pictures of the girls who have committed suicide … when they lose hope for rescue and when ISIS many times sell them and rape them.”

With the Australian nation still rocked by last week’s Islamic jihadist murder of a law enforcement office worker in broad daylight, a Federal Senate candidate is leaving little to the imagination where she stands on allowing more Muslim refugees into her nation. As reported by the News Corp Australia news network on Oct. 8, 2015, and also by the Agence France-Presse via Yahoo!7 News (of Sydney, Australia) on Oct. 6, 2015, candidate Pauline Hanson has come right out and said it: No more Muslims.
As depicted in the film Schindler’s List, as SS Hauptsturmführer Amon Goeth was briefing his troops on destroying a Polish city’s Jewish Quarter, screen writer Steven Zaillian may have penned the best example of how a determined force can make centuries of history disappear in very short order. As the scenarist wrote; “Six hundred years ago, when elsewhere they were footing the blame for the Black Death, Casimir the Great – so called – told the Jews they could come to Kraków. They came. They trundled their belongings into the city. They settled. They took hold. They prospered in business, science, education, the arts. They came with nothing. And they flourished. For six centuries there has been a Jewish Kraków. By this evening those six centuries will be a rumor. They never happened.”

While it’s arguable that the majority of children in the Western World would consider their parents taking away their iPhones for more than a day as cruel and unusual punishment, children in the ISIS occupied regions of Syria and Iraq could only wish their lives were as pampered.
