A mere 21-years-old, Mia Ayliffe-Chung, from Derbyshire, England was just slaughtered in a backpacker’s hostel in the rural village of Home Hill, Queensland, Australia. The killer made a point of screaming the jihadi war cry of “Allahu Akbar” while to he stabbed pretty tourist to death.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the Queensland Police Service Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski stated the killer used the Arabic phrase “Allahu Akbar” both during the attack and his arrest. Reportedly, the killer was identified only as a 29-year-old male visiting Australia on a French passport.
Police were treating the attack as a homicide, rather than a terrorism-related incident, Gollschewski also said.
“While this information will be factored into the investigation we are not ruling out any motivations at this stage, whether they be political or criminal,” he said. “We’re working closely with our partner agencies to make sure if there is any indication that it has an extremist slant, or this person had been radicalised, we can discover that.
The Islamic Council of Queensland’s Ali Kadri was critical of the speculation so early on that the alleged attack could be linked to terrorism. Kadri claimed that overplaying the terrorism angle was “disingenuous and wrong.”
Presumably with a straight face, Kadri added, “Just because someone says ‘Allahu akbar’ does not mean that person’s motivations are religious.”
Also, a 30-year-old British man was hospitalized in critical condition. A local man was treated and released for injuries. A dog was also fatally wounded in the attack.
As it turns out, Miss Ayliffe-Chung wasn’t the only victim. ABC is also reporting that “a 30-year-old British man was hospitalized in critical condition. A local man was treated and released for injuries. A dog was also fatally wounded in the attack.”
Sadly, the below video was taken by Miss Ayliff-Chung just days before her senseless killing in the name of the Islamic deity.
