Brit Parliamentarian comments on Muslim inbreeding: Muslims outraged, liberal hints at arrest

“Stir-up racial hatred and prejudice, which is illegal in this country. I think someone should report it …”

A nationalist British member of the European Parliament is standing his ground after tweeting a message insinuating inbreeding amongst Muslims residing in the United Kingdom, as reported by The Telegraph and Argus of Bradford, England on Feb. 11, 2014.

Much to the delighted his fellow British National Party members, and equally angering his political opponents, MEP Nick Griffin took to the micro-blogging site to comment on the Copenhagen Zoo recently shooting a perfectly healthy giraffe to ensure any future incestuous mating would never take place.

CNN also noted that after Maris the giraffe was shot, he was “dismembered in front of an audience that included children and fed to the zoo’s lions, tigers and leopards.”

In the wake of the ultimate in Danish birth control, Griffin tweeted his thoughts, ensuring a mention to the heavily Pakistani’Muslim town of Bradford was inserted:

Strange the Danes shoot giraffes to stop them having retarded offspring with their cousins. It’s regarded as perfectly normal in Bradford.

Response from opposition politicians and at least one Muslim politician.

Noted hard-left MP George Galloway stated he considered Griffin’s comments “disgusting.”

Not quite done, Galloway went on to opine that Griffin’s comment may deserve jail time:

I think it’s potentially actionable. It’s definitely intended to stir-up racial hatred and prejudice, which is illegal in this country.

It just underscores the need to rid ourselves of this man from the region. I think someone should report it.

Bradford Council’s executive member for safer and stronger communities, Councillor Imran Hussain, said he believed Griffin’s tweet was a “highly offensive and outrageous racist remark.”

Hussain also made in known he was “fed-up” with Bradford being singled out.

Even violence …

Social activist and project coordinator of Just West Yorkshire, Anne-Marie Stewart voiced her disapproval and warning of possible a violent reaction:

Yet again Nick Griffin plays the racist provocateur.

His undeniably crass stereotypes continue to damage Bradford. Though it might come across as glib, it is shallow and dehumanising while his thoughtless words put communities at risk of discrimination and even violence.

But rather than backing away from his internet opinion, Griffin fired back with another tweet:

Inbreeding gives UK #Pakistanis 11 times normal rate of birth defects. Disgusting that politicians try to hush this up to grab Muslim votes.

bnp2 Both The Telegraph and The Daily Mail of London reported in May of 2011 that Professor Steve Jones of University College London released his findings regarding  first cousins in Britain, especially in the Muslim enclave of Bradford:

It is common in the Islamic world to marry your brother’s daughter, which is actually closer than marrying your cousin. We should be concerned about that as there can be a lot of hidden genetic damage. Children are much more likely to get two copies of a damaged gene.

Zeroing in on the Northern English city, Professor Jones added, “Bradford is very inbred. There is a huge amount of cousins marrying each other there.”

The Telegraph cited “Research in Bradford has found that babies born to Pakistani women are twice as likely to die in their first year as babies born to white mothers, with genetic problems linked to inbreeding identified as a ‘significant’ cause.”

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail noted “studies have shown that 55% of British Pakistanis are married to first cousins – and in Bradford, this rises to 75%.”

Not exactly far right-wingers …

The row in Britain initially made headlines in 2008 when the BBC reported on Labour Member of Parliament  Ann Cryer “who raised the issue two years ago after research showed British Pakistanis were 13 times more likely to have children with recessive disorders than the general population.”

Cryer was quoted by the BBC:

I have encountered cases of blindness and deafness. There was one poor girl who had to have an oxygen tank on her back and breathe from a hole in the front of her neck.

The parents were warned they should not have any more children. But when the husband returned from Pakistan, within months they had another child with exactly the same condition.

The same BBC report also mentioned that “research for BBC2’s Newsnight in November 2005 showed British Pakistanis accounted for 3.4% of all births but have 30% of all British children with ‘recessive disorders’.”
