For the high crime of talking to President-Elect Donald Trump, the former Chairman of the Democratic Party and ex-governor of Vermont Howard Dean launched a vicious verbal attack on Hawaii Congresswoman and fellow Democrat Tulsi Gabbard.
As recently reported by the Washington Times, “President-elect Donald Trump’s first meeting Monday was with Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a Hawaii Democrat known for bucking her party and challenging President Obama on confronting radical Islamic terrorism.”
As reported, Rep. Gabbard is “under consideration [by Trump] for a post at the Defense Department, State Department or the United Nations.”
Nonetheless, Dean took the opportunity to take to MSNBC to personally attack Gabbard’s character and integrity.
As reported by Breitbart.com;
Monday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” former DNC Chair and former Gov. Howard Dean (D-VT) attacked Iraq War veteran Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) after her meeting with President-elect Donald Trump today, saying she was “extremely ambitious with flexible principles.”
Dean said, “She’s an interesting person and the people from Hawaii basically have her tabbed as an extremely ambitious with flexible principles … She was a lefty for Bernie, now she’s talking about running against Mazie Hirono who’s a left wing, er… liberal senator from Hawaii. So who knows what this is all about.”
Former Democratic Ohio State Senator Nina Turner defended Gabbard, saying, “Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is a combat veteran, so I’ve got to say that she’s been true to her heart and what she believes in. And I think it was very smart of her to take the invitation of President-elect Trump and put people over politics. So I don’t agree with the governor and that comment he made about the congresswoman.”
For her part, after meeting with Trump, the Washington Times also reported;
Ms. Gabbard released a statement saying that Mr. Trump brought her in to discuss policies regarding Syria and fighting terror groups such as the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL.
She said that she argued against interventionist policies and wanted to make her views known “before the drumbeats of war that neocons have been beating drag us into an escalation of the war to overthrow the Syrian government.”
“While the rules of political expediency would say I should have refused to meet with President-elect Trump, I never have and never will play politics with American and Syrian lives,” she said.
