Karina Zhironkina may have put away her Miss Ukraine 2012 sash and crown long ago, but she obviously hasn’t shelved her patriotism in the face of an increasingly arrogant Vladimir Putin, as reported by the right-of-center Washington Free Beacon on March 20, 2014.
Hailing from Ukraine’s second city of Kharkiv, Zhironkina was born, raised and educated in a region of the nation that is almost evenly split between ethnic Ukrainians and ethnic Russians, the graduate of Kharkiv’s Academy of Design and Arts gives the distinct impression that’s where she cultivated her acceptance of all Ukrainians regardless of where their ancestors came from.
Rather than hating her fellow countrymen, Zhironkina has called on all patriotic Ukrainians not to give into ethnic hate, which could easily turn into the violent confrontation that Russian strongman Vladimir Putin is suspected of wanting to use as an excuse to further his land grab from his fellow Slavs.
Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, the current physical fitness competitor has referred to Russia’s Putin as making himself look like a “complete ass to the world” due to his military incursion in the seizing of the Crimean Peninsula, which Zhironkina has sarcastically called his “peace-making” mission.
Loosely translated (from Bing.com), Ukraine’s Boyar of Buff told her fellow Ukrainians, “not to go to war with our nation’s brothers (which is already beginning to understand what is going on) and watch the beginning of the collapse of the Putin regime.”
