Nothing makes a first impression like the extreme. That pretty much sums up the past (and glorious) two years under the leadership of President Trump.
Another way to look at it — if the Prius and the Volt personified the Obama years, the Velociraptor and the Goliath scream Trump.
Updated by Hennessey Performance Engineering of Sealy, Texas, these vehicular wizards give the impression that the only thing they forgot was a .50 cal heavy machine gun bolted to the bed. Think “Rat Patrol” for the 21st century.
Transforming the Ford F-150 Raptor into the Velociraptor 6X6, the good folks at Hennessey have announced that for the low, low price of $349,000, you too can buy the base model of this beast.
High-dollar add-ons include twin turbochargers and armor plating, just to name a few. Speaking of base models, depending on how many extras you should decide to tack-on, highway MPG will range somewhere between 14-17.
Ouch. But then again… if you’re dropping over a third of a million dollars on a truck, who cares about gas mileage?
Other than armor, the Velociraptor also has some giddy-up-and-go that would be attractive to the executive protection market. This giant chunk of American steel can move from 0-60 in less than 5.0 seconds.
Keep in mind that Hennessey will only produce 100 of these custom trucks; 50 for the domestic market, 50 to go to customers overseas.
Then we come to Hennessey’s upgrade of the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss Z71, the Goliath 6×6.
Possibly in a move to appeal to the off-roader/tiny weenis club, the Goliath doesn’t offer armor-plating, but it is quicker than the Velociraptor; 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
The Goliath is also a tad more expensive — base models starts at $375,000.
And the Goliath will be MUCH rarer than its brother pick-up. Hennessey will upgrade a total of only a mere 24. That’s it, period, end of story.
To keep all of the Goliaths in the United States will also be a bit on the difficult side. Hennessey will offer all 24 on the international market.
