Even the most hard-bitten cop, the most jaded Marine, the toughest of tough guys could easily find themselves choked-up by the tale of 2-year-old Malachi Snyder and the remembrances made for him in honor of his slain police officer father.

As reported by the news portal,  Elizabeth Snyder, mother to young Malachi, and widow to murdered Officer Blake Snyder, has taken to social media to thank those who made a pair of Teddy Bears from material from her husband’s uniform.

Elizabeth posted on her Facebook page her son posing with the bears, and the caption; “These beautiful bears were made for us from Blake’s uniforms ❤️

The 33-year-old officer with the St. Louis County Police Department was killed in the line of duty on October 6 when he and his partner responded to a disturbance call in the usually quiet St. Louis County neighborhood of Green Park.

Authorities said Snyder saw the 18-year–old suspect inside a car and ordered him to show his hands. They said the suspect shot Snyder once with a 9 mm handgun that was found at the scene. Snyder passed away at the hospital a short time later.

Trenton Forster was charged with first-degree murder after surviving four to five shots to his torso during the confrontation.

In the wake of Officer Snyder’s ambush killing, Mrs. Snyder “He’s been asking for his daddy a lot,” an emotional Elizabeth Snyder told “Which is hard, because I don’t know how to respond to him yet, because every time I look at him, I’m reminded that my husband’s not coming home.”

“I am deeply proud of my husband,” she said. “He is a hero. A true hero, and his son will grow up knowing that.”
