It’s a fair bet that most people would find it surprising that not only is the Republic of Turkey a member of the NATO alliance, but also has the second numerically largest military within the same. Continue reading “Latest From Turkey: President Erdoğan Wants His Own Nuclear Weapons”
In full disclosure, I am of the opinion that President Trump is at least the best president of the 21st century. With that said, I’m also of the opinion that CNN’s Jim Acosta is the biggest clown on television since WGN use to aire Bozo the Clown every morning.
Case in point: In a recent meeting at the White House where the press was invited in for a few photos, President Trump noticed Acosta among the assembled members of the Fourth Estate.
With the memory still fresh of Acosta making an jackass of himself on national TV while reporting live at the US-Mexico border, President Trump made a point of personally thanking Acosta for proving that a border wall works.
As the story goes, when French President Charles DeGaulle militarily pulled out of NATO in 1966, the famed WWII general also ordered all American soldiers off French soil.
President Lyndon Johnson fired back, asking if that also included all the American soldiers in French soil.
Here we are 52-years later, and it looks as if our French “allies” are not only giving the United States the bum’s rush, our snail-eating bons amis now consider us the enemy.
While the European Union has never made a secret of their wish for a “real European army” (as current French President Emmanuel Macron puts it), this is the first time that an EU national leader has categorized the United States as a possible enemy.
In the meantime, the “real European army” has the official title of the European Intervention Initiative, and has been “championed by French President Emmanuel Macron” as reported by Euractiv.com on June 25, 2018.
As it turns out, the United States has guaranteed peace in Europe for the past four generations.
With the backdrop of Macron’s crosshairs aimed directly at the Stars and Stripes, President Trump is having none of this.
President Macron of France has just suggested that Europe build its own military in order to protect itself from the U.S., China and Russia. Very insulting, but perhaps Europe should first pay its fair share of NATO, which the U.S. subsidizes greatly!

According to the Agence France-Presse;
French President Emmanuel Macron called Tuesday for a “real European army” as the continent marks a century since the divisions of World War I, to better defend itself against Russia and even the United States.
Macron, who has pushed for a joint EU military force since his arrival in power last year, said Europe needed to reduce its dependence on American might, not least after US President Donald Trump announced he was pulling out of a Cold War-era nuclear treaty.
“We have to protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia and even the United States of America,” Macron told Europe 1 radio.
What the French Press Agency fails to mention regarding “US President Donald Trump announced he was pulling out of a Cold War-era nuclear treaty” is that the Russians have been cheating for years. As reported by the Washington Times;
President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), signed in 1987 by President Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, seems to have surprised Russia President Vladimir Putin. However, it should not have come as a shock.
Moscow began violating the INF Treaty at least 10 years ago. Much like the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the INF was on life support during most of President Obama’s term in office. President Trump simply pulled the plug.

As usual, our stalwart Polish allies are dead-set against any notion of an EU-only military force (see video below).
President Trump will be winging his way to Europe next week, reportedly to demand that the leaders of the majority of NATO member nations start kicking-in their previously agreed upon 2 percent of their GDP to their NATO commitment.
To date, only the United States, the United Kingdom, Greece and Estonia have paid their dues in full.
In fact, it’s been the US that’s been doing all the heavy lifting.
Despite the US being just a single member, American taxpayer pays between one-fifth to one-fourth the total operating costs to protecting Europe from a possible Russian invasion.
Just in Fiscal Year 2010 alone, the United States dropped nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars on NATO ($711.8 million).
The number of American troops permanently stationed in Europe is usually between 60,000 – 65,000.
In the meantime, the EU has nearly 2 million active duty personnel in uniform.
At least on paper, the other 28 member nation of NATO are suppose to fight with the United States against the decades-old fear of an invasion from the Soviet Union/Russia.
Despite the American largess, the powers to be in Berlin, Paris, London and all the other leaders of the EU (European Union) have decided to stand-up their own EU military.
But the EU’s secret plan is just don’t call it a military.
Not to be confused with the Justice League or the Legion of Doom, the EU army shall be known forevermore as the European External Action Service (EEAS).
Even our stalwart British allies, who voted to leave the EU not all that long ago, have verified they’ll saddle-up with Team Euro Excitement Squad (or whatever the hell they’re called).
In spite of the EU swearing up and down they have no intention of starting a standing army for the European, there are 18 “Battlegroups”. Examples include;
- The Nordic Battlegroup (Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Ireland and Norway)
- Battlegroup 42 (United Kingdom, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden and the Netherlands)
- The Balkan Battlegroup (Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus and Ukraine)
- Visegrád Battlegroup (Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine)
Speaking strictly for myself, if the member nations of the EU so desire to create their own armed forces, that’s their call. But for the life of me, I just don’t understand why we continue to pump billions of dollars for the defense of Europe, especially in light that the Berlin Wall came down decades ago.
Maybe President Trump will fix that once and for all.
Both the Republicans and Democrats are to blame – the federal government has become a bloated giant that’s too fat to tie its own shoes. Continue reading “Taxpayer Revolt: Not just UN and NATO, Billions for Someone Else”

Once one of the most feared military machines in the history of warfare, the army of the German nation has figuratively dropped its weapons and retreated to their tents for nap time in a recent NATO combat exercise in Norway. As reported by Justin Huggler of Britain’s the Telegraph news service on Apr. 10, 2016, and also by Tom Batchelor of yet another British newspaper The Express on Apr.11, 2016, newly mandated overtime rules dictate that the Bundeswehr (Federal Army) can only actually be on duty a mere 41-hours per seven day period. As every armchair historian knows, in 1914 a set of second and third rate nations drew the globe’s superpowers into the First World War. Closer to present day, Western Asia is a similar tangle of treaties and mutual defense pacts in which a single amateurish diplomatic decision or military misstep could conceivably result in a much, much wider war.
