Only MLB Player to ‘Take a Knee’ Arrested for Pulling Gun on Delivery Girl

Major League Baseball has no hard-and-fast rules regarding how managers, players and staff should conduct themselves during the pre-game playing of the National Anthem, but it’s widely understood that the powers to be at MLB certainly don’t want to see a baseball version of the Colin Kaepernick-inspired wholesale disrespect of the American flag and everything it stands for.

In fact, the closest thing MLB has to a “rule” is;

“While this is not a league rule, the playing of the national anthems of the United States and Canada remains an important tradition that has great meaning to our fans. The playing of ‘God Bless America’ at designated games is a club choice.”

Nonetheless, as everyone knows, it only takes one rabbit turd to ruin the stew. As reported by Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated just last month;

Oakland A’s catcher Bruce Maxwell became the first Major League Baseball player to kneel for the national anthem in open protest ahead of Oakland’s home game against the Texas Rangers.

Maxwell, who is African-American and comes from a military family, chose to kneel with his hand on his heart while facing the flag in solidarity with the NFL players who continue to protest racism and inequalities in America.

Hmmm… “racism and inequality”? Just so everyone knows, Maxwell makes $535,000 for six months worth of playing a kid’s game.

Sadly for Maxwell, being the solitary sac à douche in Major League Baseball to take a knee during the Star Spangled Banner quite probably belies some of his lesser qualities.

What? Did you just say that Bruce Maxwell was just busted for pulling a gun on a fast food delivery girl?

Why, yes… yes you did

From the Arizona Central;

Oakland A’s catcher Bruce Maxwell was arrested in Scottsdale on Saturday on suspicion of pointing a gun at a woman delivering food.

Sgt. Tyler Johnson, a spokesman for Scottsdale police, said officers responded to a call about 6 p.m. at Maxwell’s Scottsdale residence about a person with a gun.

The woman told police that Maxwell pointed a gun at her, Johnson said.

Maxwell has been booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.

Johnson said Maxwell, 26, was being held awaiting his initial court appearance.

It was unclear what led up to the incident, and Johnson said no other details were available.
