By now, everyone has already heard that Cesar Sayoc has been arrested in Florida on suspicion of being the bad guy behind the mailing of alleged bombs (that didn’t work) to a number of Democrats.
Oh, but the media has been breathlessly reporting that not only is Sayoc “a registered Republican” but also his van is covered in “right-wing paraphernalia”.
But this is what really piqued my interest – the same media is claiming that Sayoc has a record of at least one felony offence. I’m aware the restoration of voting rights for felons varies from state-to-state, so I decided to do a little digging.
First of all, I checked to see if he’s actually voted any time recently. By golly, he sure has.
The #Resistance and #NeverTrump crowd has long considered the fired ex-FBI director James Comey as their very own saint who suffered martyrdom for their very (liberal) salvation.
But when Comey went full circle with his “I hate Trump” narrative, he found himself hoisted on his own petard, which is just a real fancy way of saying he made himself look very, very stupid.
This Republican Congress has proven incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design that “Ambition must … counteract ambition.” All who believe in this country’s values must vote for Democrats this fall. Policy differences don’t matter right now. History has its eyes on us.
However, Brian Fallon, current CNN commentator and former Press Secretary for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 run for the presidency, shot back a seven-word response that pretty much sums up the Democrats opinion of the man who Hillary blames (among dozens of others) for her loss.
In an “emergency meeting” the General Assembly of the United Nations voted overwhelmingly to condemn the American decision to relocate the US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem.
Never mind that it’s none of the UN’s business where the United States places any of its embassies
Never mind that the United States gives far more to the UN’s coffers than any other member nation
Never mind that not a single one of our NATO alleged “allies” voted with us
Never mind that Israel captured East Jerusalem after they were attacked by a Arab-Muslim nation
With the obvious exception of the United States voting against its own condemnation, the remaining eight nations voting against the resolution have a combined square mile area roughly the size of North and South Carolina combined.
But then again, most UN member states would face an uphill battle to qualify for an American area code.
One hundred and twenty eight countries voted in favor condemning the United States
Nine countries voted against
Thirty five abstained
Twenty one nations didn’t even bother to show up for the vote
Yet in a strange sort of way, the abstaining and absent nations very well may have been paying attention to Amb. Haley’s promise that the United States would remember who voted to condemn their sugar daddy.
128 countries voted in favor of the resolution rejecting President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, 9 voted against, 35 abstained.
