(Video) Bombshell Revelation: ‘Smoking Gun’ E-Mail Uncovered at IRS Congressional Hearing

BOOM! Gowdy’s in the room!

On the heels of Barack Obama dismissively claiming on Feb. 2, 2014 in an interview with Bill O’Reilly of Fox News (video below) that there was “not even a smidgen of corruption” in the probe of the IRS against members of the Tea Party as well as other conservative groups, The Daily Caller is reporting on Feb. 5, 2014 that an incriminating e-mail has surfaced that very well could prove that he, at a minimum, spoke out of turn regarding the ongoing investigation.

When queried by O’Reilly last Super Bowl Sunday if there was an large scale corruption at the Internal Revenue Service, Obama gave what many consider a bit of a smirk and a derisive response of “Not even mass corruption — not even a smidgen of corruption.”

That was then, this is now …

With many on both left and right questioning the wisdom of Obama’s claim while the investigation is still ongoing, a bit of a bombshell was dropped at a House Committee on Ways and Means hearing yesterday.

The committee released information that they have in their possession an e-mail (click here) from Department of the Treasury official Ruth Madrigal to a number of other Treasury Department officials, to include the now retired IRS Director of the IRS Exempt Organizations division Lois Lerner.

As cited by The Daily Caller,  the Treasury Department along with the now honorably retired with all pay and benefits Lois Lerner began “devising the new rules ‘off-plan,’ meaning that their plans would not be published on the public schedule.”

As the e-mail clearly stated, Madrigal, Lerner and a number of other Obama Administration officials “planned the new rules in 2012, while the IRS targeting of conservative groups was in full swing.”

The Obama Administration had earlier suggested that it was not until after the scandal broke was there any move to “clarify regulations.”

Seen below, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) questioned witnesses concerning Lerner previously invoking her rights under the 5th Amendment against self-incrimination when asked of IRS corruption, and also of Obama pre-judging the status of the investigation.

Gowdy eventually called on Congress to convene a special counsel in light of the new evidence coming to light for the American people.
