As the old saying goes, a war isn’t over until the enemy surrenders. With that said, it really is irrelevant if Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry consider the ISIS and those allied with them as a real country or not.
Here’s the bottom line… the Islamists DO consider themselves a country, period. Huge swaths of Iraq, Syria and Libya, ISIS and al-Qaeda are the de facto government. The very same applies to Boko Haram in Nigeria, Ansar Allah in Yemen, as well as al-Shabab in Somalia.
While we’re at it, let’s call them exactly what they are – the Islamic Jihad Confederation. They certainly are a nation. A loose confederation, of course, but a nation nonetheless.
The IJC has set up courts, levied taxes, passed new laws, printed their own currency, engaged in foreign trade, etc, etc. Let’s not forget they all consider themselves to belonging to a greater Islamic Caliphate.
It’s also irrelevant if Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry consider ISIS, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, al-Shabab and Ansar Allah as allied as a single nation, albeit a loose confederation… the jihadists do. And that’s all that really counts.
In the meantime, there has been discussion here in the United States as to why don’t we officially declare war against the Islamic Jihad Caliphate. Actually, we can.
The only problem is this – our federal government, both the establishment Democrat and Republican Parties alike, lack the political will to do so. In Middle Class American-Speak: They don’t have the moral courage and grit to destroy radical Islamic terrorism once and for all.
But as Donald Trump stated this evening on FNC’s The O’Reilly Factor, he would deal with the situation much differently than the feds have done since the 1990s:
“Would you go to congress and ask for a declaration of war,” O’Reilly asked.
“I would. I would. This is war,” Trump said.
So How Would a Declaration of War Change Things?
Other than the obviously quick and overwhelmingly violent military actions overseas that Trump has promised against the IJC, those loyal to the jihadists already here in the United States would be subject to the Alien and Sedition Acts as well as Title 50 of the United States Code.
Much like the Amerikadeutscher Volksbund of old, marching up and down Times Square with the red, white and black flag of Nazi Germany, swastika and all, was perfectly legal. That was until Germany declared war on us and we reciprocated.
So for those ISIS-supporters and al-Shabab fans here in the States who would send social media notes of congratulations to their barbarian buddies after any given gutless terrorist attack, those days would be over.
The dozens of Jihadist training camps already up and running would be shut-down – if need be, by force. The same applies to the many radicalized mosques that are hotbeds of violent propaganda operating under the pretext of being the Religion of Peace.
And all that works just fine by me.
