UPDATE: FNC’s “The Five” just stated that “over 900,000” in the US has been tested. That puts the percentage of deaths overall at 00.26 percent.
Every time we turn on the TV, we can be assured of two things;
- The number of Americans confirmed to have contracted Covid-19.
- The number of American deaths attributed to Covid-19.
As we all know, in order for the media to ensure we tune-in, they need apocalyptical news on 24/7. Like the media saying goes, “If it bleeds, it leads.”
FEAR. Fear is what’s getting us to watch their End-Of-The-World coverage nonstop.
As of the date and time of posting this article, the official website of the CDC states;
- Total cases: 122,653
- Total deaths: 2,112
- Jurisdictions reporting cases: 55 (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Marianas, and US Virgin Islands)
According to CBS News (emphasis mine);
The number of cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. continued to rise Sunday, with over 137,200 total confirmed cases nationwide and more than 2,400 deaths since the outbreak began.
CNN is just as grim (emphasis mine);
As of Sunday evening there are more than 137,000 cases of coronavirus in the United States. At least 2,400 people have died.
Has anyone noticed a familiar thread? Only those tested positive have been factored into the casualty count. For all we know, every man, woman, and child in the United States has already contracted Covid-19.
Know what else is a constant? Why aren’t we getting an hourly update on how many people HAVE been tested, but have the hoped for All Clear sounded?
I have to admit that I’m guilty of attempting to figure-out the mortality rate by using a percentage calculator (2,400 deaths out of 137,200 is 1.75 percent). But I’ll admit that I was wrong.
Just for the sake of discussion, let’s say that 20 percent of the American people have already been exposed to Covid-19 (approx. 66 million people). Notice I said exposed… not tested.
For one reason or another, those exposed were of the 10-15 percent who experienced mild to medium symptoms, or are among the 80-85 percent who did contract the virus, but were asymptomatic (shown no symptoms whatsoever).
If in fact 1-out-of-every-5 Americans have already been exposed, that puts a more realistic mortality rate at a microscopic .0036 percent.
You can’t argue with math.
