Remember the old days when President Ronald Reagan and Speaker Thomas “Tip” O’Neill would go at each other hammer and tongs during work hours… but at the end of the day they would sip good Irish whiskey?
Yeah, those days are pretty much dead and gone. Somewhere between Trump winning the GOP nomination and a Bernie Bro on the hunt to kill Republican members of the House, the Democrats have pretty much guaranteed that basic civility on Capitol Hill is fini.
Case in point: Texas Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (R) shot-out to social media a literal “hot mic” moment where Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, recognized Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) ostensibly to introduce amendments in regards to a bill that involved COVID mandates and America’s logistical infrastructure.
As Rep. Van Duyne cited, she specifically noted that Rep. Mast was attempting at;
“Not allowing vaccine mandates to further damage our supply chain.”
But in all fairness, what fell from the lips of DeFazio comes as no shock to me.
In the collective minds of Lefticrats, all pro-Trumpers deserve to be treated with hate and contempt. After all, we’re the ones responsible for Hillary not being coronated in 2016.
⚠️Language alert ⚠️
Perfect example of how Democrats approach bipartisan debate on important issues.
Appalling how Dem. Chair @RepPeterDeFazio talks about Rs offering amendments. Proud to support @RepBrianMast in not allowing vaccine mandates to further damage our supply chain pic.twitter.com/MwifLlYbIf
