Posthumously promoted to the rank of Detective First Class, police officer Jason Rivera was laid to rest today at a Funeral Mass at New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
As Det. Rivera’s widow stated at the Funeral Mass (emphasis mine, video below);
“We are not safe anymore. Not even the members of the service,” Luzuriaga said. “I know you were tired of these laws, especially the ones from the new D.A,” she added, presumably in reference to newly minted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
“I’m sure all of our blue family is tired too,” she continued. “But I promise, we promise that your death won’t be in vain. I love you to the end of time.”
As reported by BizPacReview.com (BPR), the criminal who killed both NYPD officers Rivera, 22, and Wilbert Mora, 27, was Lashawn McNeil, 47, of Harlem, NY.
PIX11 of New York City recently reported that McNeil died in a Harlem hospital.
As reporter Terresa Monroe-Hamilton of BPR also noted (emphasis mine);
The suspect, Lashawn McNeil, who shot and killed one NYPD officer in Harlem during a domestic disturbance call while critically wounding another Friday night [Officer Mora eventually died of his wounds], has a long rap sheet and was unbelievably out on probation at the time of the incident.
The officers were reportedly ambushed when they approached the bedroom which was down a “very tight” hallway about 30 feet long. McNeil kicked open the door and started firing at the officers.
“As the perpetrator attempted to exit, he is confronted by our third officer, who fires two rounds striking him in the right arm and the head,” NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig recounted at a press conference.
It turns out that McNeil was on probation for a 2003 felony narcotics conviction in New York City. Essig reported that fact in a late-night news conference from Harlem Hospital insinuating that it was Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s woke policies that focused on not charging criminals for certain crimes that were to blame for the incident.
The suspect had four arrests under his belt. One occurred in South Carolina for unlawful possession of a weapon in 1998. Another took place in Pennsylvania for allegedly assaulting a police officer in 2002. Two others took place in Pennsylvania and involved a felony drug charge and misdemeanor narcotics charge in 2003, according to Essig.
A hero even unto death, Fox News is reporting that Officer Mora will be laid to rest early next month;
Mora, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. He donated his organs and was ultimately able to save five lives. Services have been scheduled for Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, and will also be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
In an article from earlier this month from Breitbart.com detailed information citing Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg received tons of cash from Leftist billionaire George Soros (emphasis mine);
Bragg was elected in November 2021 with indirect backing from left-wing billionaire George Soros, who gave $1 million to the Color of Change PAC, which spent to elect Bragg.
“Soros also donated $1 million to Alvin Bragg’s successful DA campaign in Manhattan, funneling the cash through the Color of Change political action committee, according to public filings,” the New York Post reported.
Soros has spend millions in recent local prosecutorial elections, often backing left-wing radicals against incumbent or moderate Democrats. His involvement has coincided with a massive rise in violent crimes in Democrat-run cities.
