By now, everyone knows of Kamala’s melt-down in regard to the state of Florida’s public schools’ Social Studies programs.
But thanks to Thomas McKenna of the Washington Free Beacon, the intrepid young reporter has uncovered some mighty interesting hypocrisy (emphasis mine);
“The vice president took a trip to Florida last week to say the state’s new social studies standards “replace history with lies.” She slammed the curriculum for including a line stating, “Slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.” But the AP African American Studies course framework designed by the College Board, which many Democrats including Harris defended in the face of scrutiny from DeSantis, includes a similar line.
“In addition to agricultural work, enslaved people learned specialized trades and worked as painters, carpenters, tailors, musicians, and healers in the North and South,” the AP course framework reads. “Once free, African Americans used these skills to provide for themselves and others.”
On the other hand, hypocrisy is something that Kamala Harris should be familiar with.
As it turns out, Harris is a direct descendant of Hamilton Brown, a prominent slave-owning Ulster-Scotsman in Jamaica during the late 18th and early 19th century.
Says who? None other than her father, Donald Harris, professor emeritus of economics at Stanford University.
As cited by Politifact.com, Prof. Harris notes in his own autobiography, “Reflections of a Jamaican Father” (emphasis mine);
“Recalling his family history, he also says that he is the descendant of a “slave owner” — Hamilton Brown, a man born in Ireland who enslaved people in Jamaica and managed plantations there.”
“My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (nee Christiana Brown, descendant of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown’s Town…”
Although the popular narrative is that white fathers would often abandon their mixed-race children, author Diana Muir’s book “Ancestors of Hamilton Brown Slave Owner, Browns Town, Jamaica” has cited on the BarnesAndNoble.com website (emphasis mine);
“Although he never married, he left part of his property to his son Hamilton Brown Jr, a mulatto whose mother was Kate Williams, a Negro Ebo slave who was brought to Jamaica before 1832 when slavery was abolished in Great Britain.”
Even a little amateur sleuthing on genealogical sites such as Ancestry.com and Geni.com verify Kamala’s direct lineage to a slaveholder and his mixed-race son who most definitively benefitted from slavery.
