Just in case you’ve never read the novel or seen the film The Mouse that Roared, do yourself a favor and remedy that situation just as soon as you can.
But the only reason I mention that is because a bit of that is taking place here in 2024. But this time, just a bit backwards.
As it turns out, the Kingdom of the Netherlands Air Force (Dutch: Koninklijke Luchtmacht, “Royal Air Force”) is selling/gifting/whatever their remaining and already outdated F-16s to the Ukrainians.
In all honesty, I could care less what the Dutch are giving the Ukrainians.
As a matter of fact, I’m leading towards applauding the Dutch for doing so. After all, Ukraine is a European problem that demands a European solution.
With that aside, some goomba in the Kremlin isn’t all that pleased with the Dutch and is now making noise about nuking our tulip-growing friends.
Apparently, he’s none-too-thrilled by the Dutch noting giving a damn if said now-Ukrainian F-16s are used in strikes on Mother Russia.
Ahh, but not just any nuke(s). This particular Member of Parliament, Andrey Gurulyov, is threatening to take the Dutch out via their super-secret Poseidon 125-mph torpedo armed with a 100-megaton device attached.
According to the good folks over at ScienceAlerts.com, “1 megaton equals 1 million tons of TNT.”
Keep in mind that calculates that a single megaton is 2 billion pounds of TNT. Also keep in mind that a single pound of TNT would level the average American three-bedroom house.
Two billion pounds of TNT multiplied by 100 equals a mind-bending 200,000,000,000 (200 billion) pounds of TNT.
But wait, there’s more.
The largest yield nuke the United States has in its inventory is B83, which is 1.2 megatons of destruction according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
But back to the Boris Badenovs of the world threatening the Netherlands.
As reported by London’s the DailyMail.com;
A Russian MP and military veteran has revealed a plan to paralyse the European continent in one hit by striking the Netherlands with a nuclear bomb.
The chilling threat was made on Russian state TV by Lt. Gen Andrey Gurulev – a hardline MP in Vladimir Putin‘s ‘United Russia‘ party – in a discussion with leading propagandist Vladimir Solovyov.
He told Russian state TV a nuclear strike would flood the country by destroying its dams and dykes.
‘Somewhere between 50 to 60 per cent of Europe’s hydrocarbon supply is in Holland,’ Gurulev declared. ‘Imagine, in Holland, on the coast. The military calls this a fat target.…
‘We understand perfectly well how to inflict critically unacceptable damage to bring Europe to its knees.’
The MP’s nuclear sabre-rattling comes days after the Netherlands said it would allow the Ukrainian air force to use its 24 F-16 fighter jets to carry out strikes in Russia.
