(VIDEO) With Trudeau Out, is this Puerto Rico’s Best Shot at Statehood?

No way in Hell do I want Canada as our 51st state, but I’m open to Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba saddling up with us…

By now, everyone on the planet is already aware that Canada’s worst national disaster ever is calling it quits.

With Canada’s Liberal Party a figurative dumpster fire, one doesn’t have to be a Nostradumbass to prophesize that Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre will be the head-honcho up in the Great White North (see video below).

So, what does any of this have to do with Puerto Rican statehood? It could be quite a lot. Especially with Donald Trump ready to again be at the helm of our national ship of state.

It’s no secret that the Democrats have been banging away for decades that the US Congress admit Puerto Rico and/or Washington, DC for statehood.

The new Alberta state flag?

Of course, just like Arizona and New Mexico, then Alaska and Hawaii, states are unofficially admitting new states two at a time – one Republican, one Democrat.

Know that more than a few Canadian provinces have openly called for not just secession from Canada, but specifically for US statehood.

In the past few years, the Prairie Provinces (the equivalent to America’s Mid-West), specifically Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba have individually picked-up political speed lately when it comes to being the next star on Old Glory.

But any given province leaving the Canadian nation isn’t as simple as a majority vote (however slim) on any given referendum.

The Canadian federal government goes by something called The Clarity Act.

Long story short, residents of any given province can’t vote themselves out of Canada.

However, it’s “incumbent” of the Ottawa central government “not to enter into negotiations that might lead to the secession of a province from Canada… unless the population of that province has clearly expressed its democratic will that the province secede from Canada.”

I know, I know. That’s about as clear as a bucket of mud. Anyone know what the percentage number is of any given population clearly expressing their “democratic will”? I don’t know either.

But Puerto Rico may not be the slam dunk the Democrat Party may hope for.

Puerto Rican Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón (R).

Commonwealth Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón just happens to be a pro-statehood MAGA Republican.

Puerto Rican statehood is no set-in-stone lockdown of non-stop Democrats getting elected every election cycle.

As the election of González-Colón proves, a healthy number of Puerto Ricans have already freed their minds from the Democrat Plantation mentality.

Now comes the question of how many House members would the prospective states of Puerto Rico and Alberta receive?

That’s figured out by something the Census Bureau calls the Method of Equal Proportions. Have fun trying to figure that out. Dividing by the square root of three? I’d rather attempt to nail Jell-O to a tree.

Here’s an easier way to figure things out;

  • Puerto Rico has roughly the same census year (2020) population as Utah. Utah has four congressional seats.
  • Alberta has roughly the same census year (2020) population as Oregon. Oregon has six congressional seats.

Just me, but a safer bet for the Democrats would be to aim for DC statehood.

That would be a forever guarantee of the Jackass Party perpetually getting two senators and at least one representative.
