By now, just about everyone is already aware that the Russians already have as many as 175,000 troops on the border with Ukraine.
And to listen to the Western media, one would think that Ukraine might as well start waving the French flag before the first shot is even fired.
All the Western media can do is clutch at their pearls and print sensational headlines of the invincible Russian Army.
I think someone forgot to tell the Ukrainians that they happen to have one hell of an armed forces.
In fact, as noted by US News & World Report, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy recently stated at the National Army Day observance;
“The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to fulfil their most important mission – to defend the freedom and sovereignty of the state from the Russian aggressor,” Zelenskiy said in a statement.
As seen in the illustration below from the respected and everything military website, GlobalFirePower.com, the Ukrainian military is nothing to sneeze at.
Besides a very professional full-time active duty of a quarter-million troops, their reserve and paramilitary (border guards, etc.) stand at nearly one million.
While the two graphs below note of a quite large military themselves, the Russians will never send every single one of their 3.5 million active, reserve, paramilitary and their ever growing “contractor” force (actually mercenaries loosely attached to the Ministry of Defence) to attack just one nation.
The Russians still have huge number of troops stationed near the Baltic States and Poland due to the thousands and thousands of troops from both the host nations and the United States.
Also, notice that throughout the years how their mercenary force has slowly overtaken the rank-and-file conscripts?
Just my opinion, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Russian mercs are operating outside of Russia in greater numbers than cited below and well very possibly could already be in more nations than cited.
