President Trump recently took to the America First with Sebastian Gorka radio program (video below) where he confidentially stated that he could end the Ukraine-Russia War within 24-hours.
No… really. Here’s what he said, word-for-word;
“I would have that war ended within 24 hours. That war would end within 24 hours.”
If there was ever a Trumpian statement, this would be it. But a statement and actuality are two very different things.
So, if and when President Trump gets re-elected in 2024, walking that tightrope would be a tall order.
But first things first. Did you notice that Pres. Trump never said that he’d ensure that Putin completely withdrawal from eastern Ukraine and the Crimea? He just said he’d bring the war to a halt.
Back to the main point.
How could Trump end this particular war? Please keep in mind there are a handful of absolutes that Trump would have to maneuver while tip-toeing through this particular minefield.
- No American troops in Ukraine.
- No American weapons platforms (nuclear subs, bombers and missiles) could be used against Russia and/or Russian troops.
- No NATO troops in Ukraine.
- No attacks against Russia or Russian troops could be launched from a NATO member state.
Keep in mind that in 1991 the Soviet Union collapsed, and in 1994, Ukraine actually had the third largest nuclear arsenal on the planet.
It was in ’94 that something called the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances was signed by Bill Clinton, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, British Prime Minister John Major, and Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk.
Long story short, the Budapest Memorandum stated that the Americans, Russians, and British would guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty if they gave up the hundreds of nuclear armed missiles still in-country when the USSR fell apart.
Just me, but I’m of the opinion that after Pres. Trump had some time to get all this chess pieces into place, he’d get on the phone with Vladdie letting him know that unless hostilities came to an immediate halt in place within the next 24-hours, then the United States would not interfere with the Kiev-government purchasing and deploying their own nuclear weapons.
Trump would maybe even tell Putin that the cost was already calculated and amazingly enough, that’s just how much money he was sending to Ukraine in tomorrow’s mail.
Face it… Zelenskyy wouldn’t have much of a problem snagging a nuke or two. Between Pakistan, India, and Israel, they’d be willing to sell if enough money was waved in their faces. And don’t be too quick to dismiss France as a possible seller. The French would sell a razor to a man ready to slit their own throats.
You never know… a few American nukes could somehow “accidentally” make their way to the black market.
Anyhow, I have no way of proving any of this, but I did ask myself, “What would be the most Trump thing Trump could do to screw with Vladimir Putin’s head?
Ensuring both the US and NATO have their hands clean, a few nukes aimed at Moscow and St. Petersburg would certainly be qualified as Trumpian.
Doubly so if Trump told Zelenskyy that the US money faucet has now been shut off. One exception… enough cash to buy a few nukes. Zelenskyy knows that without the billions-worth of American arms, it’s only a matter of time before Russian forces absolutely and totally crush everything Ukrainian.
Painting Putin AND Zelenskyy into a corner. How Trump.
