To those that still believe the fairy tale that women can perform equally to men in combat, you just might get all your dreams to come true.
You can also get those unrealistic fantasies of “If even one woman is qualified!” out of your lexicon, because the US Senate wants to ensure that the 105 lb. captain of the cheerleading squad gets drafted into the armed forces.
By the way, Capt. Muffy could be assigned as an administrative assistant (pencil pusher) or as a Javelin gunner (BTW, just the launcher weighs 145 lbs. Never mind that 70 lb. pack and the weight of all those extra rounds).
With that aside, the US Senate version of the FY (Fiscal Year) 2025 NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) is openly stating that women will be required to sign-up for the draft.
The pdf for the Senate Armed Services Committee executive summary is here (page 3, chapter 3, bullet point 3).
Please note that here is the press release from the Senate Armed Services Committee, noting that the vote to approve was 22-3.
Obviously, the majority of Republicans voted to approve this.
The GOP members are as follows;

- Deb Fischer (Nebraska)
- Tom Cotton (Arkansas)
- Mike Rounds (South Dakota)
- Jodi Ernst (Iowa)
- Dan Sullivan (Alaska)
- Kevin Cramer (North Dakota)
- Rick Scott (Florida)
- Tommy Tuberville (Alabama)
- Markwayne Mullin (Oklahoma)
- Ted Budd (North Carolina)

One of those Senators is from my state. I have every intention of calling him first thing Monday to find out if he wants to send my granddaughter off to fight someone else’s war.
Here’s the bottom line… will this make America’s military more lethal, or just force the Department of Defense to expand the acreage to Arlington National Cemetary?
