Should have left him to rot in a Russian prison cell…
Oh, how the Establishment Media is falling all over themselves in reporting that ex-Marine Paul Whelan is finally back in the good ol’ US of A.
Obviously, the same Establishment Media has caught on to the unofficial dictate to never refer to someone who was formerly serving on the US Marine Corps in either an active or reserve status as an “ex-Marine”, but instead as a “former-Marine”; as a retired US Marine Corps Master Sergeant, to that, I say, “Bullshit”.
If ever there was an ex-Marine, it would be this turd.
As linked to here, the Record of Conviction by Court-Martial in 2008 against Paul N. Whelan, who was busted in rank, then booted from the Corps with a BCD (Bad Conduct Discharge).
BTW, the next level lower discharge would be the dreaded Dishonorable Discharge, which is usually reserved for murderers, rapists, and traitors.
As noted by the Court-Martial documents, Whelan was an activated reservist who was assigned as an Administrative Chief to a Marine unit at Al Asad airbase in Iraq with the rank of Staff Sergeant (Paygrade E-6), where he attempted to steal $10,410.59; uttered false official statements to the Marine Corps; attempted to cheat on PME tests (Professional Military Education); and also, stealing other people’s SSNs (Social Security Numbers).
Bringing his habit of lying, cheating and stealing back to the States, Whelan was also convicted of bouncing numerous checks as well as twice being in a UA status (Unauthorized Absence, better known to most Americans as AWOL).
As reported by USA Today, Kamala Harris was a key player on Whelan’s release;
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will greet Gershkovich, Whelan and others when they land at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington, D.C., on Thursday night, national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters.
Harris was “very much a core member of the team that helped make this happen,” Sullivan said.
Amazingly enough, even with a BCD hanging over his head, Whelan managed to named as the “head of global security for the consulting firm BorgWarner” as also reported in the same USA Today article.
Also noted;
The Russian Foreign Ministry alleged Whelan was caught “red-handed” in an act of espionage, while Whelan insisted that he was set up and that he was simply a tourist. He was sentenced to 16 years of hard labor at the end of a closed-door trial.
Interestingly enough, the AP is also reporting;
His brother, David Whelan, said in a statement posted Tuesday on Twitter that his brother’s “innocence is undoubted and we trust that his rights will be respected.”
David Whelan said his brother is a retired Marine and the family is “deeply concerned for his safety and well-being.”
Did you catch that? A “retired” Marine? I guess deceit and lying runs in the family.
In the meantime, enjoy a wonderful serving of Kamala word salad;
