Anyhow, the International Longshoremen’s Association (emphasis on ‘International’) has just refused a massive 50 percent pay raise. So, if you want to complain about striking dockworkers on the East Coast and along the Gulf of Mexico, you might want to keep that in mind.
As reported by the Associated Press (emphasis mine);
“Little progress was reported in the talks until just hours before the strike began at 12:01 a.m. The U.S. Maritime Alliance, the group negotiating for the ports, said both sides did budge from their initial positions. The alliance offered 50% raises over the six-year life of the contract. Comments from the union’s leadership had briefly suggested a move to 61.5%, but the union has since signaled that it’s sticking with its initial demand for a 77% pay increase over six years.”
“We have demonstrated a commitment to doing our part to end the completely avoidable ILA strike,” the alliance said Tuesday. The ports’ pay offer is more than every other recent union settlement, the group said.”
Here’s the kicker — while the ILA and the Maritime Alliance continue negotiations, the Biden-Harris Administration can keep at least the major ports up and running in the affected areas
How? By assigning active duty and reservist LSB Marines, Navy Beach Masters, and Army and Airforce Logistics Readiness Teams to certain ports.
But we all know that Slow Joe is already checked out, and Komrade Kamala is absolutely clueless.
So, in the meantime, prices you pay for almost everything will skyrocket, grocery stores will run dry, fresh fruits and vegetables will rot while awaiting to be unloaded.
