During the course of a routine traffic stop, Deputy Sheriff Joshua Moyers, 29, of the Nassau County (Fla) Sheriff’s Office was gunned down by the driver, reportedly 35-year-old Patrick McDowell.
It’s also reported that McDowell is still on the run.
The Florida Times-Union reports, “Moyers was shot in the face, below his right eye, then in the back after collapsing to the ground,” during the traffic stop in the area of Callahan, Florida.
Sadly, as the New York Post is citing, Deputy Moyers is currently alive only due to life support equipment;
Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said doctors determined “there was just nothing they could do for Josh.”
Moyers is being kept alive until a match can be found for his organs, which will be donated.
The NY Post is also noting some quite strong words of warning to the people of Nassau County;
“This guy is dangerous. If you’re in a home and he breaks into your home and you have a gun, blow him out the door ’cause he’s like a rabid animal,” Leeper said, according to the paper.
“He will kill you with his mindset. What he did to that deputy was uncalled for, unnecessary and he needs to pay for it.”
