Totally Unrelated to an Incoming Communist Mayor? Amazon Firing Nearly 700 NYC Employees

New York City’s Amazon HQ…

Just me, but I get the distinct impression that the writing’s on the wall for the honchos over at the planet’s department store, Amazon.com, Inc.

In quite the interesting story from USA Today, for whatever mysterious reason [sarcasm, off] the same big-wigs at Amazon are giving 660 of their Big Apple-based employees the heave-ho.

That’s 660 from all the nine Amazon offices the length and breadth of New York City. The ones hit hardest will be those out of Amazon’s Manhattan West office and the New York Tech Hub, also in Manhattan.

But fret not. It’s also being reported that Amazon’s upper echelon isn’t firing folks just because they’re a bunch of old meanies… they’re getting canned because Amazon “intended to make the company more efficient.”

I’m Comrade Zohran, and I’m here to help.

Furthermore, Beth Galetti, Amazon’s senior vice president of people experience and technology sent to the soon-to-be-unemployed a memo stating;

“We’re convinced that we need to be organized more leanly, with fewer layers and more ownership, to move as quickly as possible for our customers and business.”

Just me, but that sounds like code words for “We’re firing a bunch of DEI hires that never really brought anything to the table to begin with.” But that’s just me.

I’m sure the communist-adjacent incoming administration has nothing to do with it.

Nonetheless, Amazon will also offer “lump sum of healthcare costs, as well as severance pay and access to free skills training. We also offer job support services to help find their next role.” How nice.

With all that happiness aside, please notice the below tweet.

But first, just know that Liz Warren is worth an estimated $12 million. Well known nepo-baby Zahran Mamdani’s parents are worth somewhere near $10 million. Anti-capitalism activist Lina Khan is worth an estimated $3 million.

Yep… all three are millionaires. Ever notice they never scream about millionaires and billionaires anymore?
