File this under You Just Can’t Make This Shit Up.
As absolutely stunning as the facts are, Elon Musk’s DOGE has uncovered a $56,000 contract payable to a yet unnamed “plant contractor” to water eight decorative potted plants at the Veterans Administration headquarters in DC.
Suffice it to say, VA Secretary Doug Collins has ordered the contract to be cancelled.
In a separate video from last week, Sec. Collins announced the cancellation of nearly $2 billion worth of unneeded and unnecessary contracts, such as coaching on how to create power point presentations.
Just me, but I believe that DOGE just may uncover any given federal bureaucracy paying any given contractor just for breathing.
Possibly, the justification would be “To assist in the survival of plant life by exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide.”
The VA cancelled a $56,000 contract to water ~8 plants for 5 years. This is ~$1400/plant/year. The contract has been canceled and DOGE will water the plants free of charge. pic.twitter.com/CAj8xINzJG

We found nearly $2 billion in @DeptVetAffairs contracts that we’ll be canceling so we can redirect the funds back to Veterans health care and benefits.
No more paying consultants to do things like make Power Point slides and write meeting minutes! pic.twitter.com/z1gv3PKhfA— VA Secretary Doug Collins (@SecVetAffairs) February 25, 2025
