Thank God someone at the Defense Department really is dumping all the DEI hires from the Biden years.
As it turns out the head honchoette over at the US Naval Academy (AKA: “Annapolis“, “Canoe U.“, “The Prick Factory“, “Swab Jockey State“) has just been relieved of duty.
Superintendent and Navy Vice Adm. Yvette Davids was the superintendent of the USNA until SecDef Pete Hegseth has relieved her from her post, only to be replaced for the first time ever, by a US Marine, Lt. Gen. Michael J. Borgschulte (who also has some combat time as a helo pilot).
The Sec of the Navy; the Sec of Defense; nor the White House has released the official reason(s) why Yvette lost her job (not that they have to), but word on the street (as reported by Shawn Fleetwood over at TheFederalist.com) is that the little lady had quite the woke agenda when in charge of this rather prestigious institution.
Before I get into the specifics of Yvette’s shenanigans, I have to mention both of these officers and the cult of medals that’s infected our modern military.
Davids personal awards (all 18 of them) are all for non-combat related activities. Read that again… eighteen personal medals and has never been shot at once.
Her replacement ain’t much better. Borgschulte has 14 personal medals, 13 of them are for non-combat related activities. I will give him respect for his Air Medal for flying more than a few combat missions.
But overall, between just these two, there are a whopping 32 personal medals for chicken-shit events. If it were up to me, of the dozens of non-combat personal medals available, get rid of every single one (with, of course, the exceptions of the four awarded strictly for personal heroism (and our Sister Service equivalent), and then the Purple Heart).
Back to the show. As previously cited, reporter Fleetwood mentions some rather curious events transpiring under Davids’ watch (emphasis mine);
Under Davids’ leadership, the Naval Academy embraced the use of affirmative action in its admissions processes. A former professor at the school previously told The Federalist how such race- and sex-obsessed policies reportedly resulted in less qualified applicants being accepted into the academy and disunity among midshipmen.
During her tenure as superintendent, Davids also presided over a controversy involving the school’s annual Bancroft Lecture. Last year, the academy invited Ruth Ben-Ghiat — a radical leftist who’s regularly characterized Trump and other Republicans as authoritarians — to speak at its 2024 Lecture. A Naval Academy representative told The Federalist at the time that event speakers are “selected by a committee of faculty members in the History Department and approved by the provost and superintendent.”
The October event was ultimately postposed — a decision the Naval Academy representative said was “made by leadership” — following reporting on Ben-Ghiat’s scheduled appearance.
