Come for the explosive diarrhea, stay for the burning entire body itching…
Have you ever heard of something called Alpha-gal syndrome (sometimes called Mammalian Meat Allergy)? If not, don’t feel bad, I had no idea this was even a thing until today.
But as it turns out, a couple of bioethics professors out of the Western Michigan University, Parker Crutchfield and Blake Hereth, are touting the benefits of purposefully infecting the entire world’s population with the bite of bio-engineered ticks
No… seriously. These two dim-wits take the phrase “Liberalism is a mental sickness” to a whole new level.

As it turns out, in the above cited website, Crutchfield and Hareth published a supposedly “academic” paper entitled, Beneficial Bloodsucking.
Just a portion of the abstract from the same report (highlights and underlining mine);
The bite of the lone star tick spreads alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), a condition whose only effect is the creation of a severe but non-fatal red meat allergy. Public health departments warn against lone star ticks and AGS, and scientists are working to develop an inoculation to AGS. Herein, we argue that if eating meat is morally impermissible, then efforts to prevent the spread of tickborne AGS are also morally impermissible.
Not quite done yet, Crutchfield and Hereth go on to state;
It is presently feasible to genetically edit the disease-carrying capacity of ticks. If this practice can be applied to ticks carrying AGS, then promoting the proliferation of tickborne AGS is morally obligatory.
So, let’s take a gander at the claims that AGS is a “non-lethal” allergic reaction to red meat. As noted by the Journal of Nurse Practitioners;

This potentially lethal allergic reaction is the result of an immunoglobulin E antibody response to a certain carbohydrate found in almost all mammalian meats and meat products.
Sooo… what exactly does AGS cause besides a potentially lethal allergic reaction? According to the CDC;
-
- Hives or itchy rash
- Nausea or vomiting
- Severe stomach pain
- Heartburn or indigestion
- Diarrhea
- Cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing
- Drop in blood pressure
- Swelling of the lips, throat, tongue, or eye lids
- Dizziness or faintness
- A combination of symptoms referred to as anaphylaxis
Yet another self-appointed god to force you to adhere… or else.
