(VIDEO) Broken Campaign Promise – Check; NY Governor Backhands Mamdani
Why is the mayoral candidate placed higher than the actual governor?
Zohran Mamdani won’t even be sworn in as the mayor of Gotham/The Big Apple/New York Shitty (whatever you want to call the Five Boroughs combined) until 1 Jan, 2026.
Unfortunately for him, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) has already crushed one of Mamdani’s banner campaign promises.
As it turns out, the Mamdani vow to make all city buses “free” has just publicly been rebuked by the Democrat governor while both were attending a Caribbean getaway/”political retreat” in the US Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Gov. Kathy Hochul slammed the brakes on supporting Zohran Mamdani’s $700 million call for free city buses — casting doubt that one of the far-left mayor-elect’s signature campaign promises has a smooth road ahead.
Coming soon to a bus near you.
But wait… there’s more.
Without Hochul actually citing a dollar amount, she’s making noise that the state government has already shoveled plenty of folding green to NYC, “We’re spending a lot of money, so I cannot set forth a plan right now that takes money out of a system that relies on the fares of the buses and the subways.”
Perhaps best exemplifying how socialism ignores the obvious even when it’s staring them straight in the face, Mamdani reacted to the news;
“I continue to be excited at the work of making the slowest buses in America fast and free, and I appreciate the governor’s continued partnership in delivering on that agenda of affordability.”
On a personal note, at noted by CoalitionForTheHomeless.org, the number of homeless in New York City is estimated at some 350,000. That’s roughly the same population as Cleveland, Ohio (365,379) according to Ohio-Demographics.com.
Just me, but if and when buses are declared fare free anytime in the near future, even if only one percent on New York City’s homeless population decides to homestead on the city buses, that a whopping 3,500 smelly, filthy, potentially violent folks claiming the back of the bus as their new residence.
Warm in the winder, air-conditioned in the summer. You can bet the back of the bus will not only be their living space, it’ll also double as their own private toilet.
