How very interesting. I will say that anyone automatically declaring him guilty just might want to tap the breaks. But I will say that this arrest couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

As noted by a press release from the Peach State’s GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation), “Operation Lights Out” has been months in the making and has involved “12 law enforcement agencies, consisting of local, state, and federal agencies that are part of the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.”

As it turns out, 19 individuals have been arrested in a four-day sweep of arrests in the Columbus County area.

Charges range from;

  • Human Trafficking
  • Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation
  • Fleeing and Attempting to Elude
  • Reckless Driving
  • Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers

Of the 19 arrested, the last name on the list is Carl Sprayberry.

I realize that the name ‘Carl Sprayberry’ isn’t as common as “Jim Smith,” so I dug a bit to find out who the real Carl Sprayberry is.

Come to find out that WTVM of Columbus, Georgia, is reporting (emphasis mine);

Officials say 32-year-old Carl Sprayberry and 18 other suspects are behind bars after a 4-day operation, from April 25 – April 28, focused on individuals engaging in sexually explicit communication with children on the internet, who arranged to engage in sex with a child, and to travel for the purpose of having sex. Sprayberry ran for District 139 in November 2024′s election.

Well, it’s the same Sprayberry after all. After a bit more digging, I found Sprayberry’s campaign website. Amongst his many campaign promises;

  • Carl is focused on further reducing crime rates in the state through improved, smarter policing and working with communities to improve economic opportunities that have proven successful in other jurisdictions at reducing gang involvement.
  • Carl will support decriminalizing marijuana which will allow dispensaries to legally sale marijuana that hasn’t been cut with deadly drugs such as fent or cocaine.
  • Carl will enshrine reproductive rights into Georgia law, protecting a woman’s right to bodily autonomy, protecting the right to contraceptives, and protecting invitro fertilization. The overturn of the Roe v. Wade decision by the Supreme Court ignored nearly 50 years of legal precedent, and the Court wrote new law from the bench, something they are not allowed to do by the Constitution. Reproductive care should be between a woman and her doctor, not nine unelected Judges who ignore legal precedent.
